Hello Dale City School Community!

I want to welcome you all to the 2022/2023 school year! My name is Brian Slater, and this will be my first full year as the Principal of Dale City. I was fortunate enough to be named Principal last April. From the very first day, I could tell Dale City school and community was special!

There are many things I’m excited about this school year for! The most important being able to help your child grow academically and personally in a safe, learning environment. It is my goal to help our teachers get the most out of our students in the classroom. We will set high expectations for our students but will always be there to support them along the way. Our students will be participating in so many incredible learning experiences this school year. It’s why it’s so important for families to understand and know what’s going on in the classroom. Communication between the school and parents will be the foundation to our school’s success. We want you to be part of your child’s learning as well. Our door is always open and phone calls and emails are always welcomed. It will take all of us working as a team, to ensure all our student are successful.

I’ve been in education for 12 years; having taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade as well as being an Assistant Principal for 4 years. I grew up the oldest of 5 children an hour north of Pittsburgh, PA. I learned the importance of working hard and having a great attitude from my parents. I met my amazing wife when I moved to North Carolina. She is the most intelligent, thoughtful, and driven person I know. We have two dogs and love playing soccer and hiking together. We do not have any children; this is why I pour all my love, energy, and time into our students at Dale City…I consider them my own!

I believe every child can learn. For some it will happen quicker and easier, for others it will take longer. Regardless, it will be our mission at Dale City to ensure all students excel and reach their goals. Our students and staff will chase 100% every day, be kind and respectful to each other, and we’ll show up every day ready to take advantage of the opportunity we have to be great!

I’m looking forward to working with all of you this school year and beyond! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me! Let’s have an amazing year!

Much Love,

Mr. Slater
